Last year, the Cleveland Cavaliers stunned the sports world by roaring back from a three-games-to-one deficit to defeat the Golden State Warriors in the NBA Finals, earning the city of Cleveland its first major sports championship since 1964. Swiss watch brand Tissot, which became the NBA’s official timekeeping partner at the start of the 2015-2016 season, commemorates the team’s milestone victory with the release of the official NBA Championship Watch 2016.
The watch hails from the Tissot PRS 516 collection, an automotive-inspired series characterized by its dashboard-like dial design, chrono pushers in the shape of car-engine pistons, and perforated leather strap echoing the look of the holes in a race car’s steering wheel. Another vintage touch, taken from the original 1965 model, is the use of “floating” hour indices, under which the hour and minute hands pass for a three-dimensional look. The case is 316L stainless steel with rose-gold PVD coating and a black ceramic bezel inscribed with a tachymeter scale. The movement is Swiss quartz, and hidden behind a caseback with a special Championship engraving combining the Cavaliers logo with a rendering of the NBA’s Larry O’Brien trophy. The dial
